Who owns Castello Sforzesco today

From the Duke to the Municipality
Residence of the Visconti and Sforza families, Spanish citadel, Austrian barracks and later Italian: after 1861 the castle belonged to the army and risked demolition. With the restoration by Luca Beltramibetween 1893 and 1905, it passed to the city and became the home of the Civic Museums. Since then it has belonged to the Comune di Milano, which manages it and sets its hours, ticket prices and free days. History in dates.
Who sells what
The castle sells the single ticket for the museums, with free entry for under 18s, the first Sunday of the month and the second Tuesday for under 25s, and organizes the Merlate panoramiche and visits to the Ghirlanda. This guide is independent: it is not the castle, not the Comune, not an operator. The six proposals described here are sold by private operators and include either the same ticket with an audio guide app, or a guide, or a tour of the Cenacolo with a walk through the courtyards. Ticket office or online.
