How old is Castello Sforzesco

Three eras
The Castello di Porta Giovia by Galeazzo II Visconti, built between 1360 and 1370, is the first layer; little of it remains visible, as the Ambrosian Republic partially demolished it between 1447 and 1450. The second layer is that of Francesco Sforza, from 1450: the walls, the towers by Bartolomeo Gadio from 1452, the Corte Ducale, the Rocchetta, and the Torre di Bona di Savoia from 1477. The third is the restoration by Luca Beltrami, from 1893 to 1905, which rebuilt the Torre del Filarete that collapsed in 1521 and returned the castle from its barracks appearance to how it looks today. The history, in dates.
What is ancient and what is not
Ancient: the rusticated towers, the walls about seven meters thick, the courtyards, the ducal rooms with frescoes by Bembo, and Leonardo’s Sala delle Asse from 1498, under restoration. Reconstructed: the clock tower and much of the battlements visible from the piazza. 20th-century: the 1936 fountain and the post-war museum layouts. What exactly Beltrami did.
